There is no shortcut or easy secret to success in baseball. Success comes from long hours of meaningful work, drills, practice and quality instruction. Below is a small group of instructors that Diamond Sports fully endorses to help you down the right path.
Jay is the Diamond Sports Director of Player Development and Bulldog Baseball program manager. Jay was Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002 out of the University of Washington.
Coach Embery has thirty-four years of baseball experience coaching at NCAA Division II Emporia State University where his teams earned 458-320 record in his 16 year stint with the Hornets. A five time MIAA Coach of the Year award recipient, Coach Embery began his coaching career in the NWAACC at Big Bend Community College. Coach Embery is returning to college coaching this season as Head Coach of the GRCC baseball team.

Alexander Lee is a former Bulldog Alumni, graduating from the program in 2010. Lee played at Kentwood HS and was named SPSL MVP as a senior and was both an all-state infielder and pitcher. Kentwood awarded him team MVP twice as a junior and senior. Lee signed with Skagit and played both 3rd base and pitcher where he won an NWAACC Gold Glove, 2nd team NWAACC All Star selection and an NWAACC All Academic selection before transferring to Radford in Virginia. Lee was drafted in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.

Coach Mattson has been involved with amateur baseball as a manager, pitching coach and instructor for over 16 years. John has coached at the high school level and summer level since 1999. John coached in the NW Timberjacks program prior to coaching the Rawlings Rebels and Diamond Jaxx. Coach Mattson graduated from South Kitsap High School where he helped win a state championship (24-0) and played for the NY Mets organization after attending Tacoma Community College. John played four years in the minor leagues for the Kingsport Mets in the Appalachian League, the Pittsfield Mets in the New York-Pennsylvania League and the Capital City Bombers in the South Atlantic League.

Swanny played college baseball at Skagit Valley College. He was involved with the Diamond Jaxx baseball club since 2006 as a hitting and catching instructor before becoming the club director and manager until 2015. Swanny has been a head coach of travel baseball since 2003 between the ages of 12-18 with the Northwest Timberjacks, Northern Reign Baseball Club, Diamond Jaxx Baseball Club and is currently the program director and co-founder of the Northwest Reign baseball club. Swanny also coaches fall baseball for Northwest Elite and Pacific Northwest Regional teams.

Chris Finch is Head Catching Instructor at Diamond Sports. He was a three year Varsity player at Auburn Mountainview High School, catching every inning his senior year. Chris was also a three year 18u catcher for the Kent Bulldogs. He received honorable mention honors his senior year in the SPSL 3A division in a class with three division one catchers for his defense behind the plate. Chris signed with Green River Community College following his senior year. He is currently the catching instructor for the Rebels Baseball Club and Asst Coach on the 15u team.

Brent Freeman, an internationally recognized fast pitch coach with 35 years of playing and coaching experience, has joined our team of professional coaches. Brent has an impressive coaching and playing history including winning 2 Gold Medals representing New Zealand in the Australian and Asia Pacific Fast Pitch Games. Brent managed the New Zealand National League team from North Harbor and has coached some of the top players from the New Zealand National team. Brent played and pitched professionally for 3 years in the United States.
